Cost: £75 per person (+ VAT) for a 2 day blended learning course. It entails one day of online training followed by one day of hands-on practical training. Completion of the online segment is required prior to attending the practical session – the practical scheduled for Saturday, 7th December 2024 – 9:15 am to 4:15 pm (scroll down for details on how to book).The practical day is purposefully scheduled on a Saturday to accommodate individuals who work during the weekdays, such as childminders and nursery staff, for their convenience.
About the course and who it is beneficial for:
This paediatric first aid course is tailored for professionals working with children, including teachers, nursery nurses, childminders, and teaching assistants. It equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to administer first aid to children effectively.
The curriculum covers various scenarios, from minor knocks and bruises during playtime to more serious emergencies. Participants will learn how to provide immediate care and support until professional medical help arrives. This standard level of paediatric first aid training is recognised in the preschool care sector.
What we will cover:
Key topics include assessing vital signs, following accident procedures, basic life support for children and infants (including automated external defibrillator usage), managing bleeding, shock, choking, minor and serious injuries, soft tissue injuries, paediatric medical problems, burns, foreign bodies, stings, poisoning, and understanding the contents of first aid kits.
Upon completion, participants will gain confidence in administering basic life support and treating various injuries and illnesses commonly encountered in children, such as asthma, meningitis, and febrile convulsions.
