Paediatric First Aid Accredited Course
Duration: Full day course - 9.30am arrival for 10.00 start.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this Emergency Paediatric First Aid course, you will be able to:
- Understand the responsibilities and role of a paediatric first aider in a childcare environment.
- Conduct a primary assessment and manage an emergency situation involving a child or infant.
- Perform resuscitation (CPR) on children and infants.
- Provide treatment for an unresponsive but breathing casualty (recovery position).
- Respond to allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
- Recognise and manage choking in children and babies.
- Provide first aid for asthma and diabetic emergencies.
- Recognise and respond to seizures and febrile convulsions.
- Control external bleeding and manage wounds.
- Provide appropriate care for burns and scalds.
- Respond to injuries caused by foreign objects (e.g. swallowed or inserted).
- Recognise and respond to head injuries in children.
- Communicate effectively with children and provide reassurance during a first aid incident.
- Understand how and when to escalate incidents and contact emergency services.
Certification
Successful candidates will receive an accredited & nationally recognised qualification in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, confirming their competence to deliver first aid in early years settings. The certification is valid for 3 years.
