Paediatric First Aid Accredited Course

Duration: Full day course - 9.30am arrival for 10.00 start.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this Emergency Paediatric First Aid course, you will be able to:

• Understand the responsibilities and role of a paediatric first aider in a childcare environment.
• Conduct a primary assessment and manage an emergency situation involving a child or infant.
• Perform resuscitation (CPR) on children and infants.
• Provide treatment for an unresponsive but breathing casualty (recovery position).
• Respond to allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
• Recognise and manage choking in children and babies.
• Provide first aid for asthma and diabetic emergencies.
• Recognise and respond to seizures and febrile convulsions.
• Control external bleeding and manage wounds.
• Provide appropriate care for burns and scalds.
• Respond to injuries caused by foreign objects (e.g. swallowed or inserted).
• Recognise and respond to head injuries in children.
• Communicate effectively with children and provide reassurance during a first aid incident.
• Understand how and when to escalate incidents and contact emergency services.

Certification

Successful candidates will receive an accredited & nationally recognised qualification in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, confirming their competence to deliver first aid in early years settings. The certification is valid for 3 years.
