Kayak Staten Island and the Alice Austen House Museum are thrilled to be partnering for this year's City of Water Day with a unique and FREE community event! Join us at the Alice Austen House Museum where we’ll take off from Buono Beach for a free kayaking tour of our beautiful North shore waterway. We’ll make our way back to the Alice Austen House for a picnic on the gorgeous, sprawling waterfront grounds and take a free tour of the museum which holds Alice Austen's iconic photography and other meaningful pieces. Kayak Staten Island and the Alice Austen House will provide everything you need for a special afternoon of proudly celebrating our North shore culture and amazing waterfront. Please join us!

Agenda:

12pm - arrival

12:30pm - launch from Buono Beach and take a beautiful paddle of our North shore waterways

1:15-1:30pm - land back at Alice Austen House

1:30 to 2:30pm - group will split for picnic and museum tour

3:00pm- day ends

12 years old and up only! The water conditions are a little more dynamic than a calm lake and are adjacent to an active shipping channel (but we never paddle in the channel - we stay close to shore). Some of the trip may be against the current, but our large double sit-on-top ocean kayaks are very stable. Please note that only double-occupancy kayaks are available. You must be in comfortable physical condition for about an hour of paddling. Wear waterproof, sturdy footwear and synthetic layers. No flip flops, full length jeans or cotton sweatshirts.

This is a free event and will "sell out" fast- please do your very best to honor your RSVP or cancel in a timely manner so your neighbor will have the opportunity to join us. ONE RSVP EQUALS ONE SEAT IN A DOUBLE KAYAK.
