π π Calling all surfers and ocean lovers π£ π£ As emissions continue to rise, climate disasters like floods and fires are becoming more frequent and severe. Despite this, there is no adequate plan in place to support workers through the coming transition and new fossil fuel projects are still being approved, including projects that feed Newcastle's coal port, which currently contributes nearly 1% of global carbon emissions.
This action is not just about raising awareness; it's about building a movement strong enough to push for transformative change. A peaceful, disruptive citizensβ movement is essential to breaking the fossil fuel industry's grip on our democracy and ensuring a safe climate future.
π π Together, let's make waves for change! π π
On Saturday 23rd Nov at 2pm we will gather up our surfboards to paddle into the harbour as a symbol of unity and commitment to our planet. This will be a moment of both grief for the environmental damage we've witnessed and hope for the future we're fighting for.
After the Paddle Out we encourage people to join in the host of live music and fun family-friendly activities both on the beach and in the water (John Butler and Tijuana Cartel will be playing on the beach later in the afternoon)
