About this Event

Join us for the first-ever in-person Paddle for PanCan! This is a kayak/paddleboard 5K that benefits the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The race will be at the Suck Creek Boat Launch and go upriver towards Williams Island on September 18, 2021, from 9am to 12pm (EST). If you would like to participate but can't attend in person you can do the race virtually as well. If you do the race virtually, you will sign up regualry and then make a comment or email us that you will be doing the race virtually and we will mail you your tshirt.

Registration is $35 per entry. $25 will be going towards the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and $10 towards a one-day membership to the American Canoe Association (ACA) who is insuring the event. If you would like to participate in the 5K with a tandem kayak, the total registration fee is $70. Each participant will receive a race t-shirt the day of the event and there will also be raffle prizes available for anyone that signs up. Some of the prizes are from Foodworks, Rock Creek, Flying Squirel, Clydes, Goodfellas, Oddstory, Chatt Whiskey, L2 Outside and more!

Also if you would like to participate but don't have your own equipment, River Drifters is providing kayaks/sups for the race. If you would like to use one of theirs, comment or email us so we can keep track since they have a limited number of kayaks/sups.

Pancreatic cancer takes 90 percent of its victims within five years and kills more people than breast cancer in the United States. The disease is the third leading cause of cancer-related death, and it is projected to become the second around 2020. More than 57,600 Americans will be diagnosed with the disease this year. That’s more than 158 mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, colleagues, or friends who will hear the dreaded news every single day.

Pancreatic Cancer has affected many loved ones near and far from our hearts and it is time to put a stop to this horrible disease. If you would like to make an extra donation, please visit https://secure.pancan.org/site/TR/PurpleStride/PurpleStride?team_id=30865&pg=team&fr_id=2303
