Session time is 10am to 1pm. Ideally you will have already completed Paddle Start and Paddle Discover Awards. Cost is £90 each for 3 hours instruction, assessment and certificate, using sit-on kayak from Och Aye Canoe. If you wish to do this award and assessment using your own kayak the cost is £75, including certification.The Paddle UK (formerly British Canoe Union) Paddle Explore Award is the final Award in the Paddle Awards program. This is the natural next step for those who have completed the Paddle Start and Paddle Discover Awards. The Explore Award is designed for individuals who want to explore and develop their paddling skills further and covers a range of topics, including navigation, planning, and safety.
Participants in the Paddle Explore Award learn how to plan and execute a journey on a moderate waterway, using a range of techniques and skills. The program also covers important safety considerations, such as equipment selection, rescue techniques, and emergency procedures.
The program is delivered by Och Aye Canoe over 3 hours. It is designed to develop paddlers' independence and self-reliance, allowing them to plan and undertake a journey safely. It is ideal for those who want to develop their skills and knowledge further and undertake longer or more challenging expeditions, whether for personal or professional reasons. The Paddle Explore award is recognised nationally and internationally and is a useful credential for those who wish to pursue further training or participate in organised paddling events.
