Join us for a Working Bee at Pacific Parade Reserve! At the end of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, just before Shakespear Regional Park, lies a beautiful coastal esplanade reserve. Restore Hibiscus & Bays has teamed up with local residents to remove invasive weeds and restore the natural habitat.
By creating more healthy habitat, we increase the chances that rare native species — like the tieke/saddleback, lizards, and insects that thrive within the sanctuary of Shakespear — will spread their wings and move along the peninsula into this reserve.
One of our volunteers has already heard a tieke/saddleback in this spot — pretty exciting evidence of what’s possible!
