About this Event
This introductory workshop offers practical hands-on training to prepare you for a career as a production assistant on a film or television set. Explore responsibilities, other positions and hierarchy, walkie-talkie and set etiquette and lingo, call sheet and sides creation, production paperwork, and more!
Attendees will be able to provide clerical and administrative duties to production departments such as understanding call sheets, organizing travel to locations, handling gear, making copies of scripts, maintaining schedules, and assisting and coordinating with all key departments on set.
Attendees will learn how the locations team identifies, secures, and manages filming locations, along with the logistical challenges they handle to support a film production smoothly. Key topics could include site scouting, permitting processes, coordinating with local authorities, and managing location logistics on shoot days.
Lead by industry professionals, we will cover:
- Hands-on training with walkie-talkies and surveillance mics.
- All Production Paperwork.
- Production Terminology.
- Gear and Supplies.
- How to pack and unload a production truck properly.
- Set Protocol, i.e. “do’s and don’ts”.
- Other crew departments' function and interactions
- Prepping locations for a shoot
- Location PA Resposibilites
- Office PA (including sides and revisions).
- Staff PA Responsibilities.
- Film and TV versus Commercials/Videos/Indies.
- How to anticipate production needs.
- Lock-ups, Calling Outs, Daily & Wrap duties.
- Where to find production jobs and navigate a career path.
Hosted at Lost Forty Studios, the schedule is as follows:
FRIDAY, 1/10 : 5 PM - 8 PM - ZOOM CALL
SATURDAY, 1/11 : 9 AM - 5:30 PM - ON LOCATION
SUNDAY, 1/12: 9 AM - 5:30 PM - ON LOCATION

ATTENDEES MUST:
Be over 18 years old at the time of the event (accommodations can be made with parental or legal guardian approval).
Be able to lift over 25 lbs.
Follow verbal directions.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Thrive in a highly social environment.
Actively participate for the duration of the event.
