About this Event
If you’re looking to do something positive for our local waters, we have a great hands-on volunteer activity for you! Join our staff in building Oyster Rag Pots, which are installed at our oyster restoration sites to help restore natural water filtration and create vital habitat for estuarine wildlife.
Not sure what an Oyster Rag Pot is? Visit the link below to learn how we make them, install them, and how they support oyster growth:

During this activity, we cover cotton rags with wet cement and hang them on racks to dry. Because we work with wet cement, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and old shoes that may get a few cement splashes.
If this scheduled time doesn’t work for you, volunteers are welcome to join us any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Please coordinate your visit in advance with Abbey ([email protected]) so we can set up a workstation and ensure our team is not out installing Oyster Rag Pots that day.
We also welcome group volunteer events—perfect for corporate team building—which can be scheduled with advance notice. Feel free to reach out to Abbey to arrange a time that works for your group.
