Welcome to the Oyate Woyaka Documentary Screening and Fundraiser! Join us on Indigenous Peoples Day at the Autry Museum of the American West for a special event showcasing the voices and languages of indigenous communities. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to language preservation efforts.
Oyate Woyaka features fluent speakers of the Lakota language. Because government policies to intentionally destroy the language, Lakota is nearing extinction. This film shows this history as well as the efforts being make to preserve and revitalize the ancestral language.
