“The prince is giving a ball…”OXOPS are thrilled to return to the New Theatre, Oxford with Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Based upon the classic, much loved fairy-tale, Cinderella tells the story of a young woman forced into servitude who dreams of achieving a better life.
The cherished composer and lyricist of Oklahoma!, Sound of Music, and South Pacific, created Cinderella for the 1957 television film (watched live by over 100 million people) with Julie Andrews receiving an Emmy Award for her portrayal of the titular princess. Cinderella was later revived four decades later, staring Brandy Norwood and the late, great, vocal powerhouse Whitney Houston. Now, in 2025, OXOPS brings the brilliance and energy of its cast to the stage in this modern production.
Cinderella features some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including ‘In My Own Little Corner’, ‘Impossible’, and ‘Ten Minutes Ago’, there is something for all ages to enjoy.
