La Serenissima ensemble, which takes its name from the ‘Most Serene Republic of Venice’ (Serenissima Repubblica), is dedicated to the vibrant music of 18th century Venice and the Italian States.Known for the use of original sources in its exploration of the work of Vivaldi and his contemporaries, the ensemble has been acclaimed for its virtuosity, dynamism, and accessibility. Gramophone magazine has praised performances for their ‘glorious and all-too-rare ability to make one’s pulse race afresh with every new project’.
Since its first release in 2003, La Serenissima's recordings have been lauded by numerous publications and have attracted multiple awards. Recitals throughout the UK at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, and the Buxton International Festival have been met with acclaim, and the ensemble has gained a strong international reputation following performances at the Vivaldi in Venice Festival, MustonenFest (Estonia), Handel-Festspiele (Germany), Valletta International Baroque Festival (Malta) and International Cervantes Festival (Mexico).
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year La Serenissima, directed by Adrian Chandler (violin), will present a dazzling mix of rare and familiar Italian concerti.
