About this Event
A lovely relaxed walk on the edge of the Peak District, near Sheffield. We will walk along an ancient track, see a trig point, a brilliant rock formation, and wander along a brook for a while before heading back towards the start, via a pause at the local pub. A lot of joy in just over 5.5km, and made better with brilliant company. We move at an accessible pace, with no one left behind.
Distance: approx 5.5km
Elevation: approx 180m total over the course of route
Grade: Light Hiking. Mostly easy footpaths and trails with some uphill / downhill sections Some sections of the paths will be a little uneven underfoot at times, may be some slightly muddier sections if there has been recent rain.
Time: 10am start for around 2-4 hours (depending on if you would like to stop for lunch which isn't included in event price). Note we will meet by 9.50am to leave at 10am.
Who is the event for: Everyone is welcome (aged 18+)
Who will be your guide?
I’m Sara and I’m a Hill and Moorland Leader based in West Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District. I’ve always been active but hiking became a real passion and I’m excited to share my love for adventure with you!
Where we'll meet:
We'll be meeting at the Lady Canning MTB Trial parking. This is a free parking area, but spaces are limited at busier times. If needed there may be parking on the road nearby. There are bus services nearby (see Peak District Bus Timetable.)

- Hiking boots or shoes with good grip
- Snacks or lunch to keep you happy and sustained for around 4 hours
- Rucksack

- Waterproofs
- Warm layers, hat and gloves
- A personal first aid kit with any medications or things you'd usually have on you
- Optional extras: Walking poles, sit mat, hot drink
What will the terrain be like?
Mostly trails and footpaths, some uneven and rocky areas, possibly some muddy sections.
Note about Toilets:
There are no toilets at the car park. We can use the pub facilities when we stop. There won't be any more facilities on route.
Safety and your participation:
The core hope for my walks is that they are enjoyable and memorable experiences for everyone so we will keep to a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views, learning about the area and being outdoors in nature. You are also responsible for your own health and safety and there can be risks with all outdoor activities. You'll be asked to complete a medical form a couple of days before the walk to let me know of any medical conditions prior to the day. Every participant is required to complete this a minimum of 24 hours before the event begins.
Whilst I plan and recce my walks, they are still subject to route adjustments where weather or other route conditions change in the days leading up to or on the day of your event. Any alterations are to ensure your safety and ensure you still get an enjoyable time out.
I am a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and Outdoor First Aid trained so will be on hand in case of an emergency.
Dogs:
Dogs are more than welcome to come along, however, there may be livestock around and other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it.
Refund Policy:
Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled.
Weather:
This walk will be going ahead whatever the weather, unless I decide that the conditions will be dangerous. If I do have to cancel the walk for safety reasons, I will suggest one more date for the walk to be rearranged or offer a refund.
