Owl WorkshopFriday, January 23, 2026
1:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Format: In-person
Instructor: Joseph Langlois & Christa Wise
Fee: $105 + HST (early bird by Jan 15) / $115 + HST after Jan 15
Here’s a New Year’s resolution to consider: encountering an owl in the wild! Have you always wanted to see one but just weren’t sure where to start? Join us for an in-depth, immersive owl workshop that will give you the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to maximize your owl-finding potential.
We will begin indoors, learning about Ontario’s owl species, their ecology, calls, behaviour, and how to identify them by sight and sound. From there, we will head outside for a daytime hike focused on spotting roosting owls and learning what habitat features and other clues to look for. Once night rolls in, we will go on a guided nocturnal owl prowl, putting our new knowledge into practice.
Several species of owls can be encountered here in The Arboretum, but knowing when, how, and where to look makes all the difference. Whether you've yet to encounter an owl or you are hoping to level up your owl-spotting skills, this workshop is for you!
