Pianist and singer-songmaker Owen Stroud is the product of honky-tonk classics and Western swing barnburners and regional folksongs and baroque fugues and jazz standards — all of which swirl together in his head and shine through in his songwriting.
A native of Austin’s northwest suburbs, Owen spent several post-college years living in other states, including a few years in Nashville, before returning to south central Texas in 2020.
Owen has written and produced three albums to date: If There Are Other Places (2019), The Handwriting Was Mine (2023), and The Best Use Of Our Time (2025). Owen's vibrant songs display his signature blend of humor and poignance, whether he’s singing about piquin salsa, suburban upbringing, or even the perils of I-35.
When not performing, Owen is usually out hiking at a state park, working on a new batch of songs, or reading a book about some arcane aspect of Texas geography.
