Bio for Kellie Bryant, DNP, WHNP, CHSE: Dr. Bryant currently holds the position of Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and Simulation as well as Associate Professor at Columbia School of Nursing. With an extensive background spanning over 20 years in teaching, 10 years as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and 15 years in simulation, Dr. Bryant brings a wealth of experience to her role. Her responsibilities encompass the oversight of daily operations and the implementation of simulation-based education for all nursing students at Columbia University. In addition, she serves as the medical director of Columbia’s Opioid Overdose Prevention Program, which has successfully trained over 2,500 individuals. Furthermore, she takes charge of instituting initiatives both within the institution and the community at large, aimed at fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Dr. Bryant's research pursuits are centered around enhancing patient safety through simulation, opioid overdose prevention, and the establishment of nursing pathway programs for historically marginalized students. Her impressive scholarly accomplishments encompass over 30 published articles and book chapters. Notably, she is an investigator for 6 ongoing grants with a cumulative funding exceeding 5 million dollars. She has also delivered over 100 national and international presentations during her academic career. In the realm of leadership, Dr. Bryant actively contributes to numerous national and international committees. At Columbia University, she was appointed as co-chair of the campus-wide antiracism taskforce for community service. Presently, she holds the position of vice chair for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee at the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Additionally, she is an elected board member for the International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation Learning and serves on the editorial board for the Clinical Simulation in Nursing journal. Her involvement extends to the CDC funded Nurse-Led Vaccine Confidence Advisory Committee, where she is currently in her third year of service. She also takes pride in being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and holds the role of second vice-president for the Greater NYC Black Nurses Association. Dr. Bryant's educational journey began with an Associates degree in nursing from Hudson Valley Community College. She continued her studies at Stony Brook University, achieving both a Bachelor’s in Nursing and a Master’s Degree with a specialization as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Lastly, her academic pursuits culminated in the attainment of a Doctorate in Nursing Education from Case Western Reserve University.
