Feminist Acting Class experiments to determine if the form and content of an acting class can both be made intersectionally feminist.
About this Event

A transformative approach to actor training. A series of experiments to see if the form and content of an acting class can both be made intersectionally feminist. A paradigm shift. Let's flip the script. Founded in 2016 by award-winning writer and director Gina Young (she/they), Feminist Acting Class has been presented everywhere from the Hammer Museum, The Women in Theatre Conference, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference and Directors Lab West, to universities including CalArts, NYU/Tisch, UConn, Loyola Marymount, Chapman, Pomona, and USC.

Feminist Acting Class is a series of experiments to determine if the form and content of an acting class can both be made intersectionally feminist. All genders and all levels of experience are warmly invited to join us for two days of paradigm-shifting, idea-sharing, monologue work and collaborative scene study.
You might leave with greater knowledge of women/nobinary/trans and queer playwrights, a monologue that broadens your range and type, or a much needed creative shake-up that alters the course of your career. Plus, we have fun!
Saturday + Sunday April 20-21
From 10am-4pm

ALL PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR BOTH DAYS

When you click on the first day, you will be signed up for the whole weekend.
Price: $250
If the cost is prohibitive for you, we are happy to offer sliding scale or scholarships when available, with priority going to BIPOC, disabled, and/or trans actors. For information on sliding scale or scholarships, please email [email protected]
