OUTREACH IS BACK!Starting August 16th, Greater Bangor Houseless Collective will be meeting every Saturday to offer outreach from 12 pm to 2 pm (or until food/supplies run out) at Pierce Park, next to Bangor Public Library. Set up will start around 11:30 am.
*We will be offering peer support* – a place for folks to sit and talk about their experiences, share unhoused wisdom, find resources, and vent.
*We will be offering food and drinks* – we need volunteers to make and serve meals, bring drinks, snacks, leftover containers, etc. We have a GBHC cookbook with recipes that are simple, inexpensive, and loved by the community.
*We will be offering resource coordination* – GBHC is a small, grassroots, mutual aid based organization. We don’t have large scale grants or reliable funding. Instead, we offer the knowledge from lived experience of navigating systems. We will do our best to find resources for the community, and help connect folks with them!
Ways volunteers can help:
- Become a laundry host
- Cooking a meal
- Transporting a meal to outreach
- Funding the cost of a meal
- Buying snacks and drinks for outreach
- Donating or funding seasonally appropriate survival items
- Serving meals
- Distributing supplies
- Hosting a fundraiser or donation drive
- Helping folks navigate resources
