Dear Friends,Tom and I are very excited about an addition we are making to the Queer and Storytelling culture of OKC. Please read below, go to the Out Loud Okc facebook and give a follow. And start thinking about the story YOU want to tell!
Press Release
Oklahomans are world-famous for their stories. Until now we have had no place to tell our distinctly queer stories for a queer audience. But we too have a past, we interact with the world in unique ways, we have our heartaches and moments of triumph, our loves lost and gained, our fortunes made and transformed, shame and redemption.
Building on NPR’s popular series The Moth radio hour, and on the success of Outspoken in Chicago, Out Loud OKC is an evening of true stories told live in an intimate coffee-house setting. The show kicks-off Tuesday November 19, 7:00 PM at Oklahoma City’s own indie gay-owned coffee shop Toast and Coffee at 2416 N Robinson (just up the block from the Blue Note). Due to the intimate size of the venue, reservations are requested but entrance is free. Food and drink are available for sale.
Out Loud OKC wants to encourage the next generation of storytellers to hone their craft, to put Oklahoma’s queer story tellers on the map, and to create lively evenings in the process. If you have a story you want to pitch and to develop, contact me, Tom Spector, at outloudokc on Facebook. Put November 19 on your calendar and contact outloudokc for reservations.
