About this Event
Part of the Medway Pride Fringe Festival 2024.
Join historian Rob Flood on a wander (or a mince depending on your preference) through some of the key places that make up the incredible LGBTQ+ story of the Medway Towns. Starting on the site of the former City Arms pub in Victoria Street, Rochester (just off the bottom of Star Hill), we'll walk from Rochester along the High Street through the Intra area to Military Road in Chatham. You'll learn about the oldest gay pub in the UK, hear many of the funny, sad, salacious and discriminatory stories from the area and get introduced to some of the wonderful characters that have frequented the Medway Towns in the past.
These walks are free and no booking is required but sign up if you can just so we can manage numbers.
