Improve your photography skills and see the world in a new way.
Step outside and into the natural world—ready to see, frame, and capture! This outdoor photo field trip will train your eye and spark your creativity. Learn how to observe your environment like a photographer, compose dynamic shots using natural light, and create a mini nature photo story. You'll walk, explore, shoot, and reflect—all in one immersive outdoor experience. Join us at Lake Wenatchee on September 28th and/or Icicle Gorge on October 12. Participants can sign up for a single workshop or register for both for deeper growth.
These workshops are geared toward beginner / intermediate- level photographers, but all are welcome to enroll. Any type of capture device may be used including cell phone, point and shoot, mirrorless and DSLR cameras.
The instructor for this course, Linda Lyons, is a passionate and dedicated educator, artist and facilitator of community. She is a nature enthusiast, avid trail runner, novice climber and lost-dog magnet. Linda has extensive experience in darkroom, antique processes and digital photographic practice and instruction. She has exhibited her art nationally and internationally and has been published in print and web-based periodicals. Linda is currently a photography instructor at Indiana University South Bend and Wenatchee Valley College. Linda is committed to creating welcoming, inclusive learning spaces and is a LGBTQ+ advocate. She considers life an art adventure and enjoys supporting others’ creative endeavors. She encourages her students to consider themselves storytellers, image-makers and artists.
Group size: 13 participants
Hiking: Expect between 2 and 4 miles of walking on trails at a photographer's pace: slow and with extended breaks!
Ages: 15 and up. Participants under 18 must attend with a registered adult.
Transportation is provided from WRI to the trailhead.
Bring your own camera, even if it's "just" a cell phone!
