About this Event
Join CRUX for our first outdoor bouldering event for the season! We will meet at Cat Rock in Central Park, the sister to the famous Rat Rock. This boulder features several moderate problems that are great for beginner boulderers and those new to outdoor climbing, and plenty of burlier lines for those looking for a challenge.

If you are newer to outdoor bouldering, we will have a brief safety orientation at the beginning to go over effective spotting and safer falling techniques.
Directions:
Cat Rock is located east of the Wollman Skating Rink on the south side of Central Park.
From the 59th Street N/R/W train, follow the pedestrian path ways next to East Dr and take the first left staircase you see. Cat Rock is just to the right up these stairs.
From the 57th St F train, head north to the park and follow Center Dr on the pedestrian side heading north. Once the skating rink is in view, turn to the path on the right and Cat Rock should be a short walk through.
What to bring:
- Water
- Sunscreen
- Climbing shoes
- Chalk if you have it
- Pads if you got em! We’ll have two sets. We can always use more.
