About this Event

Community Campout @ Cherry Creek State Park

Join our first ever Community Campout at Cherry Creek State Park with Latino Outdoors and Outdoor Asian on October 11-13! Bring the whole family and learn how to pack for a camping trip, set up a tent, manage your camp kitchen, plan camping meals and more! Plus, every participant will walk away with a free tent and sleeping bag from The North Face, and will get to enjoy free freeze-dried backpacking meals from Mountain House during the campout. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will offer a live raptor program (with live birds!), archery, and you can explore Cherry Creek on a guided hike.

Date: October 11th-13th

Location Campground: Chief Ouray Group Campsite, Cherry Creek State Park

This site has a shelter, two unisex bathrooms, a kitchen area, charcoal grill and fire pit.

Activities: Camp how-to’s, live raptor program with live birds, archery, hiking, camp cooking, s’mores, and community building!

Skill level: Never camped before? No problem! This weekend is beginner friendly and family friendly.

Pets: We love our furry friends, but we ask that you leave your pets at home this time.

Weather: Average temperatures at Cherry Creek State Park in October range from low 30’s overnight to mid-60’s during the day. Pack warm layers including a warm hat, gloves, base layers, and puffy jacket for night time.

Packing list: You will be provided with a tent and a sleeping bag to take home with you from The North Face, and a sleeping pad to borrow from REI. View the individual packing list here.

Meals: All meals will be provided, including: dinner on Friday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; and breakfast on Sunday. Please indicate any food allergies or preferences on the form. Feel free to bring additional food or snacks for yourself or your group.

Parking & Fees: We are finalizing the parking and fee situation with the state park. We will send out details in our follow up email, closer to the event date.
