Happy Mammoth Challenge Month, Outdoor Afro! Join us at Wisconsin's most visited state park!
This Sunday afternoon hike will be approximately 3 miles roundtrip about half of it on the Ice Age Trail. This hike includes significant incline as we will be hiking up the west bluff. After hiking, we will have a campfire at a nearby campsite to enjoy s'mores and other fall treats.
We will meet in the parking lot adjacent to the Park Headquarters on the North shore of Devil's Lake. This event does require a WI State Park Pass or day pass ($8) to access the lot.

Event:
Situated along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, Devil's Lake State Park offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Visitors enjoy nearly 30 miles of hiking trails, lakeshore picnic areas, swimming beaches, paddling opportunities, and year-round naturalist programs.
This will be an approx. 3 mile hike on the Devil's Lake Segment of the Ice Age Trail. This is hike has some significant (but doable!) incline. We will go at a pace comfortable for all participants, but please be prepared for the incline with appropriate shoes, water, and a snack. Dress in layers. There is a bathroom at the start of this hike.
Event will continue though rain or shine but cancel for a thunderstorm. We will explore the trails together. This is a family friendly event. Kids must be monitored by their guardian at all times. There are steep drop offs on the west bluff trail.
Part of Black joy in nature is about community building. We build trust and friendships by leaving no one behind. We will go at the pace that is comfortable for all participants.
Park fees:
There is an $8 entrance fee. If you have a 2024 Wisconsin State Park pass on your vehicle, this fee does not apply.

Please RSVP only if you have looked at your calendar and are confident you can make the hike on time. If you need to cancel, please do so as early as you can. We are going to start the opening circle on time.
