Come and find out about one of autumn’s most iconic natural highlights – fabulous fungi! We’re in for a real treat, as we welcome Dr Jasmin Packer, Vice President of Fungimap, and custodian of wild places in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.
Part of the Ouseburn Wild Talks series, hosted in collaboration with Ouseburn Farm, as part of the Wild Ouseburn project. This year’s talk series is supported by the the Reece Foundation’s Ouse Burn Way fund.
ABOUT THE TALK + SPEAKER
Autumn is the perfect season to search for the fabulous fungi that adorn Ouseburn, and beyond… With local names such as Witches Butter, Chicken of the Woods and Scarlet Elf Cup, there’s plenty of weird and wonderful species waiting to be discovered! But how do we find them, and what role does fungi play in our urban wilds?
For November’s Ouseburn Wild Talk, we’re excited to welcome Dr Jasmin Pack, to share her fascinating work – and to share tips on how we can find and survey fungi through Wild Ouseburn.
Dr Jasmin Packer is a fifth-generation custodian of wild places on Kaurna and Peramangk Country in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. As an ecologist, and community scientist for fungi, Jasmin is the Vice President of Fungimap Inc., the world’s first community science organisation dedicated to mapping and protecting distinctive native fungi. On behalf of Fungimap Inc., Adelaide University, and community and government partners, Jasmin is leading to discover how helpful fungi are as indicators of woodland health. Fungi for Function is funded by the Government of South Australia’s Citizen Science Fund.

Wild Ouseburn Talks are a welcoming place for everyone to come and discover all things wild. Talks are free and open for all to attend, and there’s plenty of space at Ouseburn Farm, however there’s not “mush-room” for hundreds of folk! (Sorry, we couldn’t help it).
So please RSVP your free place(s), you will be sent a reminder email a couple of days before the event.
