About this Event
Join us for an inspiring event that marks the 40th anniversary of the Ten young women of Shiraz who were executed for their beliefs, one by one, each forced to watch the death of their friend. As echos of this injustice persists, we recognize of the continued resilience and sacrifice of the women of Iran and around the world in the wider struggle for gender equality, justice and freedom.
An art exhibit opens the event followed by a dynamic and engaging program, including recollections from a relative of one of the women hanged 40-years ago, Mrs. Nahid Mazloum, followed by a stirring musical performance from internationally acclaimed artist Shadi Touloui-Wallace, with a finale exploring why the deeply felt recognition of human oneness is integral to the achievement of justice presented by NYU political scientist and former scholar at Harvard and Princeton Universities, Dr. Shahrzad Sabet.
