Come and join Simon Cherriman and Tegan Douglas for a bonanza of bird fun in your community on Sunday the 17th of October, from 9am until midday. Meet Simon - an Environmental Biologist and super keen Ornithologist that is passionate about South West WA birds and their ecology. As part of his small business ‘The Re-Cyc-Ology Project’ Simon and his partner Dani repurpose waste materials to make nest-boxes for hollow dependent wildlife.
Meet Tegan - a resident bird nerd at BirdLife Australia, an organisation dedicated to protecting native birds and their habitats. She loves seeing fledgling birdwatchers get to know our feathered friends better and discovering how everyday changes create a better environment for all our native fauna.
This workshop is all about sharing the knowledge! So come down to the park and get involved by learning how the birds you see can help you become a citizen science superhero and let us teach you how to make your own nest-box from scraps at home. We will even show you how to install it in your own backyard! This event is suitable for the whole family and will incorporate a presentation on ‘Gardening for Wildlife’, a local bird identification walk and a nest-box making demonstration.
