About this Event
Join us in celebrating the voices, experiences, and stories of people with learning disabilities and autistic people from across the UK. For the first time, these personal life stories have been recorded by their peers and will be showcased in a touring exhibition before being archived in the British Library, thanks to funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund. The touring exhibition also features photography and artworks created by people from across United Response’s services, offering everyone the opportunity to share their life stories in their own way.
Featuring over 200 objects, including audio interviews, portraits, artworks and film, the accessible exhibition shares personal achievements while highlighting barriers. Together, these stories offer a powerful picture of disability history in England over the past fifty years.
Interviews recorded for the project will be archived at the British Library, ensuring these voices are preserved and heard.
