About this Event
Hello, Columbus!
Our Youth Board, in partnership with Kim Brazwell of KiMISTRY™, is hosting The Collective’s FIRST Interactive + Inclusive Community Event on May 2nd and we’d love for you to join us!
We’ve been working hard over the past year to understand what’s important to Columbus boys + young men of color including our Youth Board members + it’s time to talk about everything with YOU. We’re excited to share and discuss what we’ve learned so far!
This event is a chance for people of all backgrounds to come together to:
- Create, build + strengthen connections
- Learn about each other + our shared communities
- Have meaningful intergenerational + interracial conversations
- + more
Ms. Brazwell has trained our Youth Board in the KiMISTRY™ Nine Asks® tool + World Cafe™ process to guide this event:
- Nine Asks® is used as a framework for creating atmospheres of safety, bravery and courage as participants grow in cultural sensitivity and humility.
- Safer spaces support efforts to be healthy, healed and whole.
- World Cafe™ is a facilitated conversational process that allows for deep dialogue around (3) to (4) question prompts during interactive, small group conversation.
- World Cafés include an inviting setting, meaningful questions, contribution from everyone, and great listening to and sharing of diverse perspectives.
We’ve set a goal to host 250 participants from across our city:
- 100 Boys of color ages 10 - 18
- 100 Men of color ages 19 - 100+
- 50 Supporters
We encourage adults (ages 19 - 100+) to plan on bringing at least one young man of color with them (ages 10 - 18) and for young people to bring their friends.
Please share this invite with anyone interested in creating a JUST and FAIR world for boys + young men of color!
