PLEASE READ THIS AS SOME THINGS HAVE CHANGED FOR THE GROUP SINCE 2020, AND SOME ARE SPECIFIC TO THIS VENUE.Happy Pride everyone! Yes, it's finally happening: It's been 15 long months since our last event, but because things have improved as vaccinations increase, we're holding [gasp!] an actual, non-virtual, face to face, in-person networking event on Wednesday evening, June 16th from 6:30 to 9:00.
And we have a beautiful & first-rate new venue for it: The BOSTON COLLEGE CLUB, located high above the city on the 36th floor of 100 Federal St. downtown (www.clubcorp.com/Clubs/Boston-College-Club). The dress code is business casual (see below); MBTA and parking info is below too.
THERE ARE NO WALK-INS AT THIS EVENT; YOU MUST RSVP IN ADVANCE. While we usually allow them for $15, you must already be on the downstairs security list when you arrive, so we can't do walk-ins here. Please bring a photo ID. Also, security may do a temperature check before letting you inside. (If you can't get in because of this, please contact Dan at [email protected].)
We should be at the Club until about 9:00 p.m., so please join us when you can; you don't have to be there at 6:30. We're a diverse & friendly group from all walks of life. YOU'LL MEET NICE PEOPLE and make new contacts--it's almost guaranteed (and bring business cards)!
COVID PROTOCOLS:
DO NOT RSVP OR ATTEND if you have: (1) Had Covid yourself within the last 90 days; (2) been exposed to anyone with Covid in the last 14 days; or (3) are sick or feeling sick.
Masks are OPTIONAL since there will be a bar and light food served. Some folks will not want to shake hands, hug, or may keep their distance, so please respect others' comfort levels. Hand sanitizer will be available.
If you've already paid and then can't attend due to Covid issues, we do not give refunds, but you will be credited $10 internally for another evening event.
COVID WAIVER:
We may perhaps require you to sign a Covid liability waiver before entering the event--we're still working on this. Yes, it's awkward and a pain to maybe do it, but our post-Covid world has forced us all to make some changes.
PRICE, PAYMENT, AND GUESTS:
Unless it's your first evening event, which is free (see below), the fee is $10 paid in advance when you RSVP. There are NO REFUNDS, so make sure you can attend before RSVPing. If you have to cancel though, kindly change your RSVP.
Meetup stopped using WePay last year for some reason and switched to PAYPAL. Hopefully it'll be a smooth transition, but if you're unable to use PayPal, please contact Dan at [email protected] to pay by Venmo instead.
IF YOU'RE BRINGING GUESTS, please send their full names directly to Dan after you pay ([email protected]) so they can be added to the downstairs security list.
IF IT'S YOUR FIRST EVENT...
If you're new or have never been to an event, YOUR FIRST EVENING EVENT IS FREE. That way you can meet us and check out the group.
Meetup won't allow you to RSVP without paying, so you must contact Dan at [email protected] or use the message link to be put on the list. And PLEASE include your Meetup profile link. Then be sure to come!
If you don't show & don't change your RSVP, it still counts as your first event and you'll have to pay after that. If you're a first-timer, please do NOT just show up, especially since we can't accept walk-ins due to pre-registration security requirements.
DRESS CODE:
Please do NOT wear sweatpants, tank-tops (for men), flip-flops, or gym shorts/clothes. Casual but tasteful!
MBTA / PARKING
The closest T stops are PARK ST. on the Green/Red Line (or South Station) and STATE ST. on the Blue/Orange Line (or Downtown Crossing).
While there should be street parking available at that time of day, the Club has free parking after 6:00 p.m. There's also $4.50 parking at the nearby Post Office Square garage as long as it's validated at the Club.
