Our Cultures, Our Stories: Creative Workshop Exploring Identity Through Art

This is the fifth of six welcoming creative workshops designed especially for women and families from Central and Eastern Europe. Through simple drawing, collage, and conversation, participants will explore their personal journeys and everyday lives, reflecting on what makes them unique while celebrating shared roots and cultural heritage.
The session will include hands-on activities and relaxed discussions about belonging, home, and heritage. Participants are welcome to bring personal stories, objects, or memories to share, if they wish. No artistic experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to connect. All materials and light refreshments will be provided.
These workshops offer a warm, supportive environment where you can meet others with similar experiences and share the challenges and joys of building a life in a new place. They provide time to pause, reflect, and express yourself creatively, while celebrating cultural identity in a safe and inclusive space. Together, we will explore and honour the traditions and stories that shape who we are, fostering connection, understanding, and a sense of belonging.

Maggie Stick is visual artist, facilitator, and zine-maker with a passion for inclusive, community-led creativity. Her work focuses on storytelling, identity, and collective expression, often using accessible materials such as collage, drawing, and printmaking to invite participants of all backgrounds to explore their experiences through art.
Your contributions during the workshop series will feed into a beautiful shared creative outcome to be showcased in February 2026 in both Redditch and at Centrala, Birmingham, celebrating the voices and experiences of women in our community.
This workshop is free, but spaces are limited to 15 women – book now to avoid missing out.
Our Cultures, Our Stories is a creative, community-led project celebrating the identities and shared experiences of Central and Eastern European women and families living in Redditch. Led by Centrala and Reimagine Redditch, and funded by Arts Council England, this 6-part workshop series will run monthly from September 2025 to February 2026, ending with a public presentation of our creative outcomes in both Redditch and at Centrala.
