About this Event

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) National Capital Section proudly sponsored by the CSCE Carleton University Chapter, invites you to a special seminar showcasing the Ottawa Fleet Street Pumping Station, a 150-year-old facility in Ottawa that has provided its citizens with tap water and fire protection, using the novel approach of water turbine driven pumps.

Predating electrification in Ottawa, the Fleet Street Pumping Station opened its doors in 1874. In this presentation, Paul Montgomery a licensed professional engineer with a background in mechanical and municipal engineering will share historic information, unique photos, and technical operations information about this seldom seen heritage facility. Paul has over 30 years of experience in a variety of engineering capacities including design, project management, plant operations, and maintenance. Paul holds multiple licenses as a water and wastewater treatment operator and is currently the acting Director of Water Facilities and Treatment Services, with the City of Ottawa.
