Tombolo Books is thrilled to welcome back local author Shane Hinton in his many variations to the bookstore! Hinton along with a cast of familiar faces will join us for a performance of Hinton's latest novel, Other Shane Hintons! Joining the author are special guests:

A Christ-haunted childhood manifests in the form of supernatural horrorsa pact with the devil, an encounter with the ghost of a dead friend. Adolescent anxieties resurface in fatherhood, where one Shane Hinton hunts suburban iguanas in an alcoholic stupor, and another waits to die beside his algae-covered swimming pool. Each story marks an inflection point, where decisions cannot be undone, and the Shane Hinton who begins the story emerges a different person.
Ten years after his debut collection, Pinkies, which the writer Lidia Yuknavitch described as the lovechild of Kafka and Flannery OConnor, Hinton continues to reveal the terror and beauty of being alive. And as an offspring of those authors, Hinton delivers moments of grace in the strangest places: a childhood friendship with a dead pet goat, life-affirming messages from a swarm of sewer flies, and an uncomfortable conversation with the Other Shane Hinton.
Shane Hinton is the author of three books: Pinkies (2015), Radio Dark (2019) and Other Shane Hintons (forthcoming 2025), and is the editor of the anthology We Can't Help It If We're From Florida (2017). His work has been published in literary magazines and exhibited at national and international conferences.
Tyler Gillespie is a writer, independent greeting card maker, and the palest Floridian you'll ever meet. He’s an award-winning journalist and the author of The Thing about Florida: Exploring a Misunderstood State (University Press of Florida, 2021) and two poetry collections — the nature machine! (Autofocus, 2023) and Florida Man: Poems, Revisited (Burrow Press, 2024). He’s the co-editor of The Awkward Phase (Skyhorse, 2016), and his humor writing can be found in the New Yorker, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, and LGBTQ Comedic Monologues That Are Actually Funny.
Gloria Muñoz is the author of Your Biome Has Found You and Danzirly, which won the Ambroggio Prize and the Florida Gold Medal Book Award for Poetry. She is an Academy of American Poets Poet Laureate Fellow, a Hedgebrook Fellow, a Macondista, a Highlights Foundation Diverse Verse Fellow, and a part of Las Musas. Yuly Restrepo is a member of the editorial committee for The Tampa Review. Before that, she was an editorial member of The Iowa Review. She is currently working on a novel set in her native Colombia.
