Join Open Table Faith to watch "The Matrix" (1999) interwoven with philosophical commentary from Professor Jae Jerkins. (Tyler Junior College; University of Texas at Tyler) The viewing will integrate interpretive frameworks from Hindu and Buddhist traditions, alongside critical film and literary theory.
The movie will be hosted in the Contemporary Worship Center in the main building at First Christian Church of Tyler. As always, no movie is complete without popcorn 🍿 and soda! 🥤
Professor Jae Jerkins is the newly appointed Chair of the Philosophy Department at Tyler Junior College, where he has taught philosophy, ethics, humanities, and world religions since 2012. A returning voice to Open Table Faith, Prof. Jerkins brings a rare blend of academic depth and real-world insight, holding master’s degrees in both science and religion. He’s a passionate advocate for critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding, and the role of ethics in everyday life. Through his teaching, he continues to inspire students and communities alike with his thoughtful and engaging approach.
