The lecture will take place on 6th October at 7.30pm in the Towers theatre.

This year it will be given by OT Dr Alex Liu. Dr Liu is an Associate Professor in Palaeobiology at the University of Cambridge, and an OT, having progressed all the way through the Drive School and Tettenhall College before leaving after sixth form in 2003. He is a lecturer in Earth Sciences, has a research group working to resolve the early evolutionary history of animals, and is an avid Wolves fan.

The lecture is titled "From Wolverhampton to Windhoek: Adventures in Earth Sciences, and why they matter"

Our planet is undergoing rapid climatic and environmental change, which is contributing to substantial biodiversity loss and the real threat of a new mass extinction event entirely of our own making. In this talk I will explain the scientific evidence for these changes, present the arguments behind claims of a modern mass extinction and our role in it, and show how studying life in the ancient past can inform our approach to protecting Earth and its ecosystems today.

We are delighted to be welcoming Alex back to Tettenhall for what promises to be a fascinating insight into his life, his studies and his adventures. To book your place please email [email protected] or click on this link https://tettenhallcollege.alumni-online.com/frmProfile.aspx?S=37s6fs3 and book online.

Drinks will be served in Towers library from 6.45pm and the lecture will begin at 7.30pm. Drinks will be served after the lecture back in the library.
