AdvertisementOslo Deathfest presents: CORRODED KICK OFF!
Three festering bands are ready to kickstart the festival with a concert at our second stage (Revolver/Kniven). Tickets for this event is sold separate from the main festival.
Eschewing trends and recklessly treading their own path, Dead Void takes you on an unpredictable journey into the murky depths of psychological terror. Firmly rooted in the more obscure classics, this is a band that appreciates dynamics and confidently plays things their own way without compromise.
Local to Denmark this English/Norwegian nightmare emerged onto the scene in 2017 for a gig in Bucharest with the legendary Root. The band’s 2018 demo tape, The Looming Spectre, sold out multiple times, even after re-releases on Dark Descent Records and Me Saco Un Ojo Records.
The debut album, Volatile Forms, was released in 2022 by the same labels. Recorded mostly live and straight to tape at No Master’s Voice studios in Copenhagen, the album quickly made an impact in the underground press:
"Volatile Forms is the heaviest album I’ve heard this year... the album resides completely in a world of Dead Void’s making. And there’s something almost indescribably special about that world." - yourlastrites
"Unpredictable and shapeless, like a formless cavern with no exit" -metalutopia
"A bleak, liminal portrayal of conjuration and merciless aggression resultant ‘Volatile Forms‘ is likely to end up the, or among the, heaviest death metal records released in 2022." -grizzlybutts
"This music crawls below the surface of your skin, festering, rotting you from the inside out... A sadistic listen that will penalise surface-fan culture and reward true maniacs seeking the diabolical and dark arts of Death Metal." -nattskog
Expect Death Metal of The Void that is less clean, less technical, less progressive and even less ritualistic. But far more mind-melting.
Strychnos started back in 1997 and released a demo tape, followed by a EP Terror lies Within
on the Danish label Horror Records. The vision was, and still is, to create extreme metal music
without considering classifications of genres and to have the boundaries of Death Metal, Heavy
Metal and Black Metal merge seamlessly together.
The band disbanded in 2002 and relocated to Copenhagen to ascend again in 2005. The second
run culminated in two releases in 2011: The mini album Undead Unsouls Unbound (on German
FDA Records and Danish Deadbangers Productions) and the anthology 12 LP "Lessons in terror
released by the German label Kneel Before the Masters Throne Records. The band then went
through another several years long hiatus.
Since 2017 the band has been active again and, in the spring of 2021, Strychnos finally entered
Ballade Studios in Copenhagen to record their first full length album. The debut A Mothers
Curse; was released through Dark Descent Records (USA) November 4 th , 2022 and has received
praise from all possible angles - from being awarded album of the year in several Danish medias to
being picked amongst Novembers best releases on BandCamp. Now, a fully active entity
Strychnos is now hungrier than ever - ready to play several shows in 2023, both domestically and
abroad. The band re-enters Ballade Studios in February 2023 to record the follow up.
Strychnos 2023: Nis R. Larsen (Cerekloth, Usipian etc.): Drums Andreas Lynge (The Cleansing,
Corpus Mortale, etc.): Guitars Martin Leth Andersen (Undergang, Cerekloth, etc.): Bass and Vocals
Horrifier is a newly founded death metal band from Oslo. They released their first demo «Howl From the Grave» late last year and it recieved good reviews. And their first full-length is being recorded as we speak. The music is slow yet fast with a hammering wall of sound that reminds you of Autopsy fighting against Napalm Death. Be sure to witness HORRIFIER!!
