Discuss the selection, design and care of ornamental annuals with Kyra Back, horticulturist and garden designer for the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Presented by the Friends of Boone County Arboretum. Please register.Kyra Back has been in the horticulture industry for 40 years. She is a graduate of Temple University and has been at the Cincinnati Botanical Garden and Zoo since 1992. Before her zoo life, her horticultural experiences included landscaping, lawn care, garden center management, floral creations and garden design. Since coming to the zoo, she has honed her skills in nursery growing and management, proper bed preparation, annual / perennial design, expanded plant knowledge, and people management. She is currently Managing CZBGβs annuals plant trialing program which has more than doubled in scope. We now trial and display over 800 different varieties of annuals to our 1.9 million visitors.
βMy career passions include inspiring people to garden sustainably and creating designs that invite wildlife to the garden. My life passions include introducing and inspiring others to be interested in the fascinating world of plants; gardens that especially invite wildlife in; travel, hiking, biking and generally enjoying the outdoors; getting down and dirty creativeβ¦mostly with glass and fiber arts. Oh, and I really like to dance!β
