Let's practice our map & compass navigation skills at an Orienteering event held by the Austin Orienteering Club. This is a beginner-friendly event that can be as strenuous or non-strenuous as you want.
There is a tutorial for beginners at 9:15-9:45 AM and the event starts at 10 AM. Four different difficulty levels are available, and we can participate individually, in small groups, or as one large group.
Recommended equipment is normal hiking/trail running gear and a base-plate style compass. If you don't have one, the Suunto A-10 is available locally at REI for \~$25.

To participate, it is necessary to register directly for the event at the link above. There is a $15/person fee. Signing up for this meetup does not register you for the event. This meetup is just to spread awareness and organize whoever is interested to participate.
Cancellation policy: If you will not be able to make the hike, please be polite and change your RSVP to "not going" so that we don't wait for you.
