Combining art and science, origami robot -making workshops will be hosted by representatives of the University of Newcastle's Future Art, Science and Technology Lab at the Singleton Library on 27 – 30 January, ahead of the exhibition in Evidence Laneway in February
Immerse yourself with the nature origami & robotics with Matthew Gardiners new oribokits™.
The workshop provides education experience blending science and creativity which culminates in co-creating an installation inside the Evidence Laneway. Almost 100 mini-oribots (Origami + Robot) will be created by the community (workshop participants) and then displayed on a nature-inspired wall that will remain in Evidence Laneway for 3 weeks.
Join us at Singleton Library to receive your kit and participate in the workshop. The kit takes approximately 6 hours to complete which can be spread over various workshop sessions over the 4 days.
Facilitators and technical support will be available during the workshops that occur on the following days and times:
Thursday 27 January | 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm
Friday 28 January | 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm
Saturday 29 January | 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 2-4pm
Sunday 30 January | 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 2-4pm
PLEASE NOTE:
Due to the complexity of the workshop, it is recommended that any children participating in the workshop be 10 years of age or older. Also, due to the electronic components and in accordance with the Australian safety standards, children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian at all times.
Please book 1 place per participant (observers and parent/guardians do not need to book a ticket)
