Organ Recital Open to the Public Free Admission

Welcome, Gabriel Galdo
We are delighted to welcome organist Gabriel Galdo to the Cathedral to present a 40-minute concert in our recital series celebrating the second anniversary of the completion of our Lively-Fulcher Great Organ on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 12:40pm, following the 12:10pm Mass. We are pleased to once again give our parishioners and the greater Washington, DC community the opportunity to hear marvelous music in an ideal recital setting.
Featured works include Paean by Kenneth Leighton, Prelude and Fugue in B minor, BWV 544 by J. S. Bach, Prelude in E, Op. 99 No. 1 by Camille Saint-Saëns, Choral Improvisation on Jesu, geh voran, Op. 65 No. 56 by Sigfrid Karg-Elert, and Carillon on Tu es Petrusby Henri Mulet.
This concert will be both open to the public, with CDC guidelines observed, as well as livestreamed on the Cathedral YouTube channel.
About the Artist
Gabriel Galdo is a tenth grade homeschool student who attends weekly classes at the Classical Cottage School in Winchester, VA and his parish home school co-op at St. Francis de Sales in Purcellville, VA. Gabriel began taking piano lessons with his father at age 5 and later joined a few of his friends in the parish to begin studying the organ in group lessons at St. Francis. He is an active participant in parish life, routinely accompanying the choir or filling in as organist. Gabriel has been studying organ with David Lang since the Spring of 2021. He also has continued his piano studies with Neal Larrabee. Gabriel is currently serving as the interim organist at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in McLean, VA. Besides playing the organ and piano, Gabriel enjoys composing, reading classic literature, listening to jazz-rock fusion, and playing baseball.
