About The ConcertDescribed by Mendelssohn as “the jolliest piece I have ever done,” his Symphony No. 4 “Italian” is one of his treasured works and was inspired by his travels to Italy. Joseph Jongen’s magnificent Symphonie concertante for Organ is a mighty force for the instrument and captures a wide range of moods. Plus, Allan Gilliland’s 2000 commission from the ESO takes a twisted path with unique orchestral textures.
