About Dance and Derby!Dance and Derby offers a one-of-a-kind workshop! Participants will learn to dance skate for enjoyment, challenge, and recreation. Focusing on learning core dance skating skills such as: Downtown, Cross-step, Crazy legs, Snake Walk, Pivoting. We will also cover finding "your bounce" in rhythmic skating and do a few Rhythmic Footwork Challenges. Classes may concentrate on a particular skill or include a group dance.
For roller derby skaters, this workshop enhances footwork while ensuring a good time! Freight Train will guide you in understanding how these skate dance moves are integrated into roller derby gameplay later in the day. The last 4 hours will be derby-focused. Roller derby skills being brought to life through music, coordination, and teamwork!

Roller Skaters and Roller Derby Players are invited to this clinic! Beginner/Intermediate friendly classes. PLEASE NOTE THE LAST 4 HOURS ARE FOR ROLLER DERBY PLAYERS ONLY. Dance classes are best for skaters who know how to confidently skate forward and stand on their own. There could be a moment of backward skating needed for dance skills.
Structure: Come and Go Style Based on Topics you want to learn. Topics would change each hour (or so). Don't care for a particular topic or think you have it down already? No worries, choose the classes that best work for you.
Length: 8 hours of topics, but pick and choose what you want to focus on or stay all weekend!

2:35 - 3:30 pm - C5 - Sk8 Dance Crew for Beginners
3:35 - 4:30 pm - C6 - How Dance Skate Skills Apply to Derby
4:35 - 5:30 pm - C7 - Musical Skills, Drills, and Thrills!
5:35 - 6:30 pm - C8 - Pace Line Frenzy
6:35 - 7:30 pm - C9 - Finding your Derby Balance
7:30 - 8:00 pm - Wrap up/Good-Bye/Merch Sales
