Orchestra Vitae return in 2021 with a string showcase! The orchestra present two of the great works for string orchestra, the serenades of Elgar and Tchaikovsky. Emerging British composer Benjamin Rimmer’s rich soundscape ‘Pathway’ opens the concert, before the third movement of Beethoven's Hammerklavier Sonata (in a new arrangement for strings and wind quintet) allows a moment of melancholy. Hilary Tann's lyrical and dramatic work 'Water's Edge' begins the second half, after which Elgar's heartfelt 'Sospiri' leaves one nostalgic for something that perhaps never was. Conducted by their newly-appointed Principal Conductor Pablo Urbina, alongside Guest Conductor Philip Keller, this evening is one not to be missed.
