Orchestra North East is pleased to announce that our next concert will be
on Saturday February 28th 2026, starting at 7.00pm.
It will take place in Newcastle Cathedral, St. Nicholas Square,
Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1PF
Programme:
Jan Sibelius: Pohjola’s Daughter
Antonin Dvořák: The Golden Spinning Wheel
Johannes Brahms: Second Piano Concerto
Conductor: Philippe Bach
Soloist: Martin Roscoe
Two richly orchestrated pieces drawn from folk tales form the basis of the first part of our concert: Sibelius’s Pohjola’s Daughter and Dvořák’s The Golden Spinning Wheel. Being rooted in stories, they paint vivid pictures in music.
For the second part of the concert, we are looking forward to welcoming the distinguished British pianist Martin Roscoe, who will be performing the monumental Piano Concerto no. 2 by Brahms. Martin is one of the leading pianists of his generation, hugely respected and admired as a soloist and recital pianist. We are honoured to have him play one of the great works of the piano repertoire with us and we know it will be a truly memorable occasion.
