Oraka Ararau - Inaugural National M\u0101ori Alcohol and Other Drug Hui This hui is an opportunity to celebrate being Māori, kōrero, whanaungatanga and acknowledge the many pathways that lessen AOD challenges.
About this Event
Te oraka ararau me ona piki ona heke ona tutetute
The many pathways to wellness have peaks, troughs, and challenges.

Te Rau Ora, through Whare Tukutuku invite whānau Māori who mahi in and around alcohol and other drugs (AOD) to attend this hui. This is a unique and rare opportunity for Māori to gather and talk about our challenges in our way.

Background:

At last year’s Pre-Cutting Edge Māori Hui in Christchurch, there was a wero put forward from the people attending asking for a Māori AOD hui that is by us and for us. Whare Tukutuku with the support of Te Aka Whai Ora, have picked up this wero.

This hui will shine a spotlight on all the levers that contribute to AOD harm for Māori and identify solutions to reduce harm in hapori Māori. Furthermore, it is an opportunity to celebrate being Māori and our approaches to care.
