About this Event
OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE FROM A 100% SOLAR NETWORK
Recent experiences operating the SA distribution system under high rooftop PV conditions over the Spring/Summer seasons
This talk will share recent experiences from operating the South Australian distribution system under high rooftop PV conditions over the 2023 and 2024 Spring/Summer seasons. SA Power Networks is using innovative approaches such as the Flexible Exports program to securely and reliably operate the distribution system at high levels of rooftop solar export, enabling customers to collectively export significant volumes of energy through the distribution system to the transmission system.
Speaker - Cathryn McDonald
Network Optimisation Engineer, SAPN.
Cathryn is an engineer in the Network Operations team at SA Power Networks, working on the implementation of world-first approaches and systems for managing high levels of rooftop solar PV and distributed energy storage. This includes the implementation of the SA Government’s Smarter Homes remote disconnect/reconnect requirements, SA Power Networks’ minimum demand response, and trials and development of a Flexible Exports service to provide dynamic operating envelopes to rooftop solar and batteries.
