Opera51 is proud to present Mozart's dramma giocoso (the original operatic dramedy) to a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte. The story is based on Tirso de Molina's tale of the licentious Spanish nobleman Don Juan, and in a series of magnificent arias and ensembles, the opera depicts the Don's frustrated attempts to seduce Donna Anna, Donna Elvira, and Zerlina, and his ultimate hellfire-laden comeuppance. Mozart's masterpiece will be performed in a concert version, with numbers sung in Italian with English supertitles, and recitatives presented in English language dialogue after the translation by Adrienne Schizzano Mandel and Oscar Mandel.
Performances are at 51 Walden Street in downtown Concord on Saturday, December 21 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, December 22 at 2:00 PM
