About this Event
This course educates attendees on the 5 types of rated wall assemblies and the code requirements for protecting openings in those assemblies. With emphasis on Chapters 7 and 10 of the International Building Code, participants learn about size limitations and applications for egress and non-egress opening protectives. Horizontal sliding fire door technology is introduced as one of the code recognized opening protectives as forth in Section 1008.1.4.2.
Learning Objectives:
- Evaluate fire and life safety concerns.
- Evaluate all options for opening protection.
- Identify sections of the model building code that establish a requirement for protection of rated openings.
- Consider horizontal sliding door technology as a design solution in egress and non-egress applications.
