Our newest exhibition, Past Forward: Native American Art from Gilcrease Museum, illuminates the extensive collection built by Native philanthropist and arts patron Thomas Gilcrease (Muscogee Nation; 1890–1962).
Enjoy a talk in the auditorium at 2 pm with the co-curators of the exhibition and music and performances in the Vanden Brul Pavilion at 3 pm!
Opening Talk: 2 pm
Join co-curators Chelsea M. Herr (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma), Jack and Maxine Zarrow Curator for Indigenous Art and Culture at Gilcrease Museum, and Janet Catherine Berlo, Professor Emerita of Art History at the University of Rochester, for a conversation as they offer deeper insights into Past Forward.
Music and Performances: 3-5 pm
Celebrate the work of Indigenous artists in our area with music by Curtis Waterman (Onondaga) and Brian Francis, art creating with Belinda Patterson (Tuscarora), and a performance by Eva Nielsen (Tonawanda Onondowaga).
