Dear friends, YOU ARE INVITED!
Springwater Wetland Celebration
The city of Portland was working on this wetland for a while. Many homes (like 300 or so) were in this flood plain and were purchased by the city to be transformed into this wildlife wetland.
This restoration project connects community with nature, reduces local flooding, improves wildlife habitat and naturally manages stormwater in the Johnson Creek watershed.
Have you ever done a bird walk?
This is your opportunity. Bring waterproof shoes (if it rains) and bring binoculars if you want (the city will have some as well). A professional will take people on the bird walk at 8:30 am. Text me if you would like to join the bird walk.
• When: Wednesday, September 17, 2025
• Bird watching event starts at 8:30 a.m. (Please RSVP by messaging Hanna)
• Grand opening celebration starts at 10:00 a.m. (Coffee & Treats)
• Where: Intersection of Springwater Corridor Trail and SE 117th Avenue
• Google maps link: https://www.google.com/maps/place/45%C2%B028'47.6%22N+122%C2%B032'34.9%22W/@45.4809421,-122.545474,556m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d45.4798889!4d-122.5430278?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDkwMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
Park on the streets. There is really no parking lot. It’s a gravel road with a dead end.
Why do I care about this wetland and this area?
I DREAM of the day when spaces near SE Foster Rd will be completely clear of broken down cars, trash, tires, graffiti, etc.
The more exposure there is to the area, the more eyes we have on this area, the more aware the city agencies will be of its condition (just yesterday reported 3 piles of trash, construction garbage and a burned car on Foster and 111th. It has to stop being a dump).
Anyway, come! On the 17th. See what wetlands look like in the SE.
